Rivers
Rivers is the result of three years work following rivers along the east coast of Australia, into the hinterland and beyond. Plein air painting as I went. All this has been followed by many many hours in the studio refining the sketches into the collection of paintings on display at the Art Space on the Concourse in Chatswood.
I see the river as a form of connectedness. Connecting to ourselves and to others. To paint a river is to also paint the surrounding landscape that created it. This exhibition is the story of water and the trees and plants which grow along its banks- all connected. Symbiotic. The paintings depict the diversity of nature and give a true sense of the love affair we have with the bush and remote spaces.
