WILD
I’ve always been attracted to wild spaces.
The sense of serenity and oneness with nature gives a feeling of inner contentment and of course provides space from the business of life.
However wild, our wilderness is not desolation. It is teaming with life. As Matt Brennan of the Wilderness Society observes, ‘There’s a rawness here. A living presence in the land that hasn’t been entirely subdued.’
It’s this living presence which I’ve tried to depict in these paintings.
The Speckled sunlight as it filters through the trees, the amazing lyrebird I encountered in Lane Cove Wildflower Garden in St Ives in Sydney as it trilled for hours showing off its repertoire of songs. These have been my inspiration.
There is also the beauty of the High Country in Kosciusko and the power and peace of Australia’s red inland spaces.
I’m pleased to share with you my journeys into the wild.
