April 2017. The stunning colours of The Kimberley coast
The Kimberley is such an inspiration to painters – fabulous colours, beautiful landscapes and so much life, you just have to know where to look for it. We spent 12 days touring the coast and the inland, met some wonderful Aboriginal artists and budding artists at the Kalumburu mission and tracked down the intriguing Bradshaw paintings now believed to be some 25,000 years old and very different from the more well known Wandjina art. It will be interesting to see what comes from the drawings I did there. A sneak preview of one work in progress is at the bottom.
